Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) | Primary Care Outpatient

The Primary Care Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works directly with providers and primary care team members to deliver high-quality clinical care and customer service in outpatient clinics in San Jose. This role performs clinical and administrative duties, supports patient needs, and helps ensure smooth patient flow across one or both primary care locations as needed. ~DW

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
• Conduct ECG testing, specimen collection, venipuncture, and injection administration within training and scope of practice.
• Provide patient education and exam instructions.
• Schedule and confirm appointments, answer calls, and support patient check-in and check-out.
• Verify insurance and assist with registration and other front-office duties.
• Maintain medical records, prepare charts, and support immunization and health registries.
• Process medication refills as ordered by providers and prepare forms for provider review.
• Communicate patient concerns to supervisors or providers and complete related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in Primary care outpatient medical assisting is a must requirement.
• Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program.
• National Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, or CCBMA.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
