Job Description

Materials Manager - Nuclear Development

Support a nuclear development project by leading the materials-management work that connects engineering specifications, material take-offs, procurement decisions, vendor quality, and project execution. This consultant will coordinate multiple companies and stakeholders so major equipment and material requirements are complete, traceable, and ready for timely purchase.

The best fit is an experienced materials, procurement, supply-chain, or project professional who can lead technical reviews, clarify purchasing ownership, coordinate multiple vendors, and influence engineering, estimating, purchasing, and quality teams without direct authority.

Location: Richland, Washington

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, four 10-hour days

Work Setting: Hybrid; based at a nuclear generating site with remote work available as project needs and client approval allow

Responsibilities

  • Lead specification-review meetings and coordinate resolution of technical, quality, commercial, and ownership questions before procurement.
  • Chair weekly design-of-record (DOR) meetings across three participating companies, including decisions about purchasing responsibilities and organizational ownership.
  • Coordinate with estimating and other stakeholders on DOR activities, material requirements, cost inputs, and procurement priorities.
  • Develop and maintain combined documentation that supports consistent planning, status tracking, decision records, and communication across participating organizations.
  • Lead material take-off meetings and reviews to confirm scope, quantities, specifications, long-lead needs, and purchasing priorities.
  • Review forms and supporting documentation for safety-related work so procurement activities align with applicable safety and quality requirements.
  • Review procurement specifications for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Lead vendor-selection and product decisions for major equipment and materials, including turbine-related equipment when applicable.
  • Conduct vendor and product quality reviews and coordinate corrective or follow-up actions through closure.
  • Facilitate timely decisions among engineering, estimating, purchasing, quality, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multiple vendors and authorized business travel when required by the project's technical representative.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of relevant experience in materials management, procurement, supply chain, engineering coordination, major-project execution, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating specifications, material requirements, purchasing decisions, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead work across multiple disciplines and companies without direct authority.
  • Strong documentation, issue-tracking, meeting leadership, and stakeholder-communication skills.
  • Ability to work the stated schedule in Richland, meet nuclear-site access requirements, and travel for authorized project needs when required.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working under an NQA-1, ISO 9001, ASME, 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B, or comparable quality-assurance program.
  • Commercial nuclear, nuclear development, small modular reactor, or other highly regulated power-generation project experience.
  • Experience with major equipment procurement, supplier qualification, vendor surveillance, product-quality review, or source inspection.
  • Experience supporting turbines or other complex, long-lead engineered equipment.

Official CRG plan documents and carrier materials control eligibility, coverage, exclusions, limits, waiting periods, payroll deductions, and employee costs.

Washington employees accrue at least one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked, equal to approximately 52 hours or 6.5 eight-hour days over a 2,080-hour work year. Accrued leave is available for use after 90 calendar days of employment, and at least 40 unused hours, equal to 5 eight-hour days, carry over to the next accrual year, subject to applicable law and CRG policy.
