Wyetech is seeking a System Engineer Level 0 to support remote maintenance and refresh efforts across eight (8) sites. This position will interact daily with partner entities and provide hands-on systems engineering support involving system administration, troubleshooting, software deployment, telecommunications network configuration, data-flow validation, and collection systems.

The selected Systems Engineer will need experience with Linux and Ciena to support system administration, troubleshooting, loading software, and configuration of telecommunications networks and software packages. The Engineer should understand cables, collection systems, system functionality, and data flow and will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to maintain and troubleshoot operational capabilities.

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Ciena supporting telecommunications network and software configuration.

  • Experience with Apache NiFi.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications networks, cables, and collection systems.

  • Understanding of end-to-end data flow and system functionality.

  • Ability to perform remote maintenance and system refresh activities across multiple sites.

  • Experience loading, configuring, updating, and troubleshooting software packages.

  • Ability to perform data validation following software deployments.

  • Ability to identify data-flow path problems and fixes and submit applicable DMRs.

  • Ability to engage and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and partner organizations.

  • Ability to configure new software updates and troubleshoot system issues.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform remote maintenance and refresh efforts for eight (8) sites.

  • Interact daily with partner entities to coordinate technical and operational activities.

  • Support system administration and troubleshooting using Linux and Ciena.

  • Load and configure software and telecommunications network components.

  • Support and troubleshoot collection systems and associated data flows.

  • Engage SMEs to investigate and resolve technical issues.

  • Perform data validation after software deployment.

  • Submit DMRs addressing identified data-flow path problems and required fixes.

  • Configure and deploy new software updates.

  • Troubleshoot system, software, network, and data-flow issues.

  • Analyze user requirements, Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

  • Analyze system requirements and support design and development activities.

  • Guide users in formulating requirements, evaluating alternative approaches, and conducting feasibility studies.

  • Support the integration of requirements, design, and technology into operational systems.

  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.

  • Develop technical documentation, system architecture documentation, and system design documentation.

  • Support system development and implementation planning, including Systems Engineering Management Plans and system integration and test plans.

  • Interact with Government stakeholders regarding systems engineering technical considerations, problems, issues, and conflicts.

  • Communicate with program personnel, Government stakeholders, and other technical personnel.

Capabilities:
  • Manage system requirements and derived requirements to support delivery of production systems compatible with defined system architectures, including Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

  • Contribute to systems engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.

  • Assist with developing system requirements and functional requirements and allocating requirements to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.

  • Coordinate resolution of action items resulting from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.

Qualifications:
  • No demonstrated prior System Engineer experience is required for the Level 0 labor category.

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Five (5) years of System Engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position-appropriate security clearance is required.

Salary Range: $40-$65 Hourly

*Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
