ASME Structural Plate Welder–Fabricator

Location: Thomasville, GA
Schedule: Night shift, Monday–Thursday, 4:30 p.m.–3:00 a.m.

A night in the life

As the plant settles into the evening, you clock in, review blueprints, and prep material for heavy-plate fabrication. You’ll set up parts, verify measurements, and bring components together with skill and precision—supporting the manufacture of integrated boiler and burner systems trusted across industries.

What you’ll do
  • Lay out, fit, position, and align structural metal components per drawings and process sheets.
  • Use cutting torches confidently and perform carbon arc gouging when required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; verify dimensions using tapes, levels, and related measuring tools.
  • Apply foundational welding techniques and build proficiency toward code-quality work.
  • Within an established timeframe, successfully pass basic ASME certification tests.
  • Accurately utilize the timekeeping system for all shifts and tasks.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures without exception.
Other duties

Take on additional tasks as assigned by the Cell Leader or Foreman in support of the team.

What you bring
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; solid reading, writing, and math skills. Technical training from an accredited program preferred.
  • Experience: Completion of a welding program or approximately 6 months of relevant welding experience.
  • Decision-making: Entry/trainee role with limited independent decision authority; escalate questions to your trainer, Cell Leader, or Foreman.
Physical demands and work environment
  • Lift up to 60 lbs to chest height on a regular basis.
  • Stand and walk on concrete for up to 12 hours; frequently bend, stretch, stoop, and squat.
  • Climb ladders up to 8 feet and work in elevated areas up to 15 feet; climb stairs as needed.
  • Work in temperatures aligned with outdoor ambient conditions.
  • Access all indoor and outdoor plant areas; exposure to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes, lubricants, and oils.
  • Use required PPE at all times, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and fall protection.
