Welder Fabricator (Job-shop Manufacturing)
Davenport, IA | On-Site
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay: $25 - $35/hour, depending on level of experience
Our client is a locally owned manufacturer specializing in large CNC milling and precision machining for demanding industries. To support continued growth, they are seeking a highly skilled, meticulous, and forward thinking Welder Fabricator to join their Davenport, IA team.
In this role, you will take projects from initial design to finished product by interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings. You will layout, cut, fit, and weld custom components using both MIG and TIG processes across a variety of metals, including aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel.

Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read, analyze, and interpret complex engineering blueprints, structural schematics, and weld symbols to plan fabrication sequences.
- Welding Proficiency: Perform structural and cosmetic welds using MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) techniques in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
- Material Management: Weld and fabricate assemblies utilizing aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel ranging in various gauges and thicknesses.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Cut, bend, shape, fit, and align raw metal components using shop equipment such as plasma cutters, band saws, shears, and grinders.
- Commitment to Quality: Inspect completed welds and assemblies for flaws, warpage, or defects, taking personal pride in ensuring all finished products meet strict aesthetic and structural standards.
- Adaptable Workflow: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in assignments, easily transitioning between different tasks, project types, or work areas with an enthusiastic approach to new shop challenges.
- Safety & Integrity: Maintain high ethical standards, strictly follow all shop safety protocols, and accurately report materials and time with demonstrated integrity.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience working as a Welder Fabricator in a manufacturing, job shop, or structural environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading and weld joint layout.
- Demonstrated mastery of MIG and TIG welding processes.
- Deep understanding of how different metals (aluminum, stainless, carbon steel) behave under heat.
- Teamwork & Culture:
- Must work exceptionally well with a team, coordinating with toolmakers, management, and quality inspectors to meet production deadlines.
- Must be respectful to colleagues and supervisors, fostering a collaborative and positive workplace.
- Professional Character:
- Passion towards advancing work experience and expanding technical welding knowledge.
- Proven ability to approach complex, customized fabrication projects with positive energy and problem-solving initiative.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, crouch, and work in a physically demanding shop environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certification: Current American Welding Society (AWS) certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1 structural steel or aluminum certifications) are highly preferred.
- Completion of a formal welding apprenticeship program or trade school technical degree.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate overhead cranes as needed.
- Comfortable standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Shop environment includes moderate noise and temperature control.
- PPE required: Steel-toe shoes and safety glasses.
