Job Title: FSQA Coordinator-Bilingual
Department: Quality -Plant

Position Summary

The FSQA Coordinator supports the implementation, maintenance, verification, and continuous improvement of the facility’s Food Safety and Quality Management System. This position works closely with the SQF Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure that food safety, quality, regulatory, customer, and SQF requirements are consistently met.

The FSQA Coordinator performs routine verification activities, inspections, sampling, environmental monitoring, product and process evaluations, internal audits, documentation reviews, and corrective action follow-up. The position plays a key role in identifying potential food safety and quality risks, supporting investigations, maintaining accurate records, and promoting a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.


Essential Responsibilities


Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility's SQF Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
  • Assist  the SQF Manager with maintaining compliance with applicable SQF Code  requirements, company policies, customer requirements, and federal, state,      and local regulations.
  • Monitor and verify compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)  and established food safety procedures.
  • Verify compliance with sanitation, employee hygiene, pest control, allergen management, foreign material prevention, and other prerequisite programs.
  • Support  compliance activities related to FDA requirements, customer standards, and  third-party food safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and organized food safety and quality records.
  • Support product traceability, mock recalls, and recall-readiness activities.

Quality Assurance

  • Perform routine inspections of production areas, processing operations, packaging areas, equipment, and finished products.
  • Verify product specifications, weights, labels, packaging materials, coding, and other quality requirements.
  • Monitor and document critical food safety and quality parameters in accordance with established procedures.
  • Identify  and document non-conforming products, processes, or conditions.
  • Place  product on hold when established food safety or quality requirements are not met and assist with product disposition activities.
  • Investigate product defects, quality incidents, customer complaints, and process  deviations as assigned.
  • Assist  with root-cause analysis and the development, implementation, and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor  quality trends and identify opportunities to reduce defects and improve process consistency.

Environmental & Product Monitoring

  • Collect, handle, document, and submit environmental, ingredient, water, and finished-product samples in accordance with established sampling plans and procedures.
  • Perform environmental monitoring activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist  with investigations of environmental monitoring positives and other  microbiological or food safety concerns.
  • Monitor environmental and product testing trends and promptly communicate potential risks to FSQA management.
  • Verify sanitation effectiveness through pre-operational inspections, sanitation verification, environmental monitoring, and other established verification activities.
  • Ensure samples are properly identified, stored, and submitted for testing in accordance with applicable procedures.

Audits & Verification

  • Conduct routine GMP, sanitation, food safety, and quality inspections.
  • Perform assigned verification activities to confirm compliance with established programs and procedures.
  • Assist with internal audits and preparation for customer, regulatory, SQF, and other third-party audits.
  • Document audit findings and communicate deficiencies to responsible departments.
  • Track corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely completion.
  • Verify  the effectiveness of corrective actions and escalate overdue or  ineffective actions as appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining audit-readiness throughout the facility.

Training & Communication

  • Assist  with employee training related to GMPs, food safety, sanitation, allergen control, personal hygiene, quality procedures, and other applicable FSQA programs.
  • Provide  coaching and reinforcement of food safety and quality expectations during routine plant activities.
  • Communicate food safety, quality, and compliance concerns promptly to Production, FSQA, and other appropriate management personnel.
  • Promote  a positive food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.
  • Maintain effective communication across shifts, departments, and functional teams.
  • Support cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:

Qualifications:


MUST BE BILINGUAL (ENG-SPA)


· Minimum of 2 yrs of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, food safety, microbiology, or a related environment preferred.

· Bi-lingual English-++ Spanish

· Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls, allergen control, sanitation, and applicable food safety regulations.

· Experience with SQF, BRCGS, or other GFSI-recognized food safety standards preferred.

· Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

· Ability to identify food safety and quality risks, investigate problems, determine root causes, and support effective corrective actions.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams.

· Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

· Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

· Ability to follow company safety, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements at all times.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work around production equipment, noise, dust, odors, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow facility safety requirements.
  • Ability  to lift and carry samples, supplies, or materials as required.
  • Ability  to work flexible hours, including weekends or different shifts, when  required by production needs.
