The ideal candidate will bring strong experience within eggs, protein, dairy, or another perishable food category and understand the complexities of selling products where freshness, inventory, pricing, and service are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an annual sales strategy focused on revenue growth, volume, product mix, pricing, and profitability.
- Grow shell egg and related product sales across grocery, club, foodservice, and wholesale channels throughout the Southwest.
- Develop new business while expanding relationships and opportunities within existing strategic accounts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, distributors, and other key customer decision-makers.
- Lead customer negotiations related to pricing, promotions, terms, volume commitments, and service expectations.
- Manage pricing strategies with a focus on maintaining margins and maximizing price realization.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and communicate anticipated demand to production, processing, packaging, and distribution teams.
- Partner closely with operations to ensure customer commitments align with production capacity and product availability.
- Monitor account performance, service levels, product quality, code dates, credits, and other factors impacting customer retention and profitability.
- Position the company's freshness, food safety standards, sustainable operating practices, and local presence as competitive advantages.
- Coach and support members of the sales team to improve account penetration, customer retention, and overall performance.
- Identify market trends, competitive activity, and new opportunities for growth throughout the region.
- Represent the company professionally with key customers, industry partners, and at relevant trade events.
Qualifications
- Proven sales leadership experience within eggs, protein, dairy, produce, or another perishable food category.
- Demonstrated success managing regional or multi-account sales with responsibility for revenue, volume, pricing, and margin.
- Experience selling directly to grocery, club, foodservice, wholesale, and/or distribution customers.
- Established experience working with senior-level buyers and managing strategic customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of forecasting and the relationship between sales demand, production capacity, inventory, and distribution.
- Experience negotiating pricing, promotions, customer terms, and volume commitments.
- Working knowledge of food safety and quality expectations within the food manufacturing or processing industry.
- Previous experience leading, coaching, or developing sales professionals.
- Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the Southwest.
- Must be based in Arizona or willing to relocate/work from Arizona.
Why Join the Company?
This is an opportunity to join a multi-generation, family-owned and privately held organization with an established presence in the Southwest and continued plans for growth. The Sales Manager will have direct access to company leadership and work closely with the teams responsible for production, quality, logistics, and customer service.
The organization offers the scale to support significant customer relationships while maintaining the responsiveness and entrepreneurial environment of a privately held company. This individual will have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company's commercial strategy, customer growth, and continued expansion.
