Program: USPTO Enterprise Cloud Modernization
Work Arrangement: Remote, but local to the DMV area, as they will have a few occasions where they will need to meet with the customer.
Job Description
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to join its cloud infrastructure team supporting the USPTO Enterprise Cloud Modernization Program.
This individual will work directly with the federal client to modernize and expand enterprise cloud capabilities supporting mission-critical operations. The environment is multi-cloud, and the Lead Cloud Architect will serve as a key technical leader responsible for shaping cloud architecture, translating client requirements into technical solutions, and guiding successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of scalable cloud infrastructure and landing zones across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Design solutions supporting multi-cloud environments, multi-account/cross-account applications, SASE, and automation.
Partner directly with client stakeholders to define technical requirements, objectives, and cloud adoption strategies.
Design and implement solutions using the AWS Well-Architected Framework and hybrid-cloud strategies.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DevOps and SecOps engineers.
Drive CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation for provisioning and managing cloud services.
Partner with senior leadership, enterprise architects, and agency stakeholders on cloud modernization initiatives.
Design highly available, secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions aligned with industry best practices.
Clearly communicate complex cloud architectures to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
10+ years of IT and/or digital transformation experience.
5+ years of deep, hands-on cloud architecture and implementation experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
AWS experience strongly preferred.
Strong experience designing and leading multi-tenant cloud environments, including landing zones and multi-account architectures.
Experience developing highly available, secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions.
Strong communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills.
Ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with cloud architecture and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies and tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, and GitLab.
Professional-level cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
Experience integrating and modernizing on-premises and cloud environments.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or federal cloud modernization initiatives.
