Position Title: CT Technologist
Department: Radiology / Imaging Services

Job Summary

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role requires independent operation of CT equipment, adherence to imaging protocols, patient safety practices, and the ability to provide exceptional patient care while producing diagnostic-quality images for radiologist interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients professionally, verify patient identity using established protocols, and ensure accurate patient information prior to imaging procedures.
  • Obtain and review pertinent patient history, physician orders, medication lists, allergy information, and completed questionnaires.
  • Explain procedures thoroughly to patients and their families, answering questions to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Anticipate patient needs, communicate delays, address concerns, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the patient experience.
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, families, physicians, office staff, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to all hospital, imaging center, departmental policies, and organizational core values.
  • Position patients appropriately and perform CT examinations according to established protocols and quality standards.
  • Archive completed studies and ensure diagnostic-quality images are available for radiologist interpretation.
  • Perform venipuncture and establish IV access for contrast administration when required.
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast media and medications in accordance with departmental policies, physician orders, and safety guidelines.
  • Review patient medications to identify potential interactions or contraindications related to contrast administration.
  • Complete assigned duties efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Assist coworkers and support other imaging modalities as needed, including patient preparation, IV starts, and computer-related functions.
  • Assist physicians during invasive and image-guided procedures as applicable.
  • Verify physician orders for accuracy and take appropriate action when discrepancies are identified.
  • Utilize radiation dose reduction techniques while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
  • Properly wear, maintain, and exchange radiation dosimeters in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Utilize safe patient handling and transfer equipment to reduce risk of injury to patients and staff.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and provide assistance to minimize the risk of falls, complications, or other adverse events.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Certifications & Licensure

  • ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT).
  • Current Ohio Radiographer License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, sterile technique, and patient care procedures.
  • Proficiency in patient positioning and operation of radiographic and CT imaging equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of CT or related diagnostic imaging experience.

Certifications

  • ARRT (CT) Certification.
