Prep / Assistant Baker – Part Time

The Great Gadsby Bakery is looking for an experienced, reliable Prep / Assistant Baker to join our small bakery team in Gilbert.

This position will work alongside our head baker and focus primarily on preparing the fillings, toppings, glazes, frostings, doughs, and other components used throughout our weekly pastry production. By taking ownership of bakery prep, you’ll help keep production organized and allow our head baker to focus on assembling and baking our finished products.

What you’ll be making:

Our prep changes somewhat depending on the week’s production needs, but may include:

• Fruit fillings
• Other toppings and fillings such as frangipane and chocolate ganache
• Frosting, glazes, and other icings
• Brioche and croissant doughs
• Various seasonal fillings, toppings, sauces, and bakery prep
• Scaling and preparing ingredients for production

We make a large variety of pastries and baked goods from scratch, so this is a hands-on position with plenty of variety.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who already has a solid foundation in baking or pastry production. We’ll train you on our recipes, methods, and production system, but applicants should be comfortable working independently in a bakery or professional kitchen environment once trained.

The right person will be able to accurately follow recipes, weigh and measure ingredients, manage multiple prep tasks, stay organized, and consistently produce the same recipes to our standards.

Baking, pastry, or relevant professional kitchen experience is required. This is not an entry-level baking position, and we’re specifically looking for someone who can bring existing baking knowledge and practical kitchen skills to the role.

We’re a small, independently owned bakery, so reliability, efficiency, attention to detail, and being comfortable working as part of a close-knit team are especially important.

Position Details

• Part-time
• Approximately 4-5 shifts per week, with scheduling based around production needs
• Gilbert, Arizona
• Starting at $18–$20/hour, depending on experience
• Opportunity for additional hours as the position and our production needs grow
