Job Description
As a Proving Ground Test Driver at Chelsea Proving Grounds, you will support durability, component, and performance testing under the direction of the test engineering team and proving ground supervisor. The role involves preparing and evaluating vehicles, collecting telemetry data, documenting test results, and safely operating vehicles in varied weather conditions. This is a long-term, on-site position with no travel required.
Available schedules include second shift, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., and third shift, 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; weekend overtime may be offered.
Pay is $18.00 per hour for second shift and $19.00 per hour for third shift. This position does not include benefits.
Responsibilities
- Conduct vehicle and component testing, including durability, component, and performance evaluations.
- Prepare, inspect, and configure vehicles and components before testing.
- Safely operate test vehicles in a variety of weather conditions.
- Collect test data using vehicle telemetry and data acquisition systems.
- Complete visual inspections and check vehicle fluids as required.
- Document tests, repairs, configurations, and results using established protocols and Microsoft Office templates.
- Interface with data devices and maintain clear, organized project documentation.
- Work second or third shift and support weekend overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean driving record with no tickets within the past three years.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings.
- Proficiency with computer software and hardware.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to interface with data devices.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and assignments.
- Availability to work assigned shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proving ground experience.
- Employment longevity history.
- Experience as a FedEx, UPS, or Amazon driver.
- Experience with vehicle telemetry or data acquisition systems.
