About this job
Know how to fix, maintain, or work on cars? Talk us through it step by step.
We are looking for U.S.-based mechanics, automotive professionals, and experienced car enthusiasts for a paid video recording project.
Using our mobile app and a phone head mount, you will record first-person (POV) videos while performing real automotive repair and maintenance tasks and explain what you are doing step by step.
Pay: $10 USD per approved recording hour
Assignment: Minimum 10 approved hours ($100 total)
Location: United States only
Schedule: Flexible
Interview required before selection
Head mount provided if needed
🎙️ Show Us What You Do — and Talk Us Through It
Imagine you are teaching someone who cannot see what you are doing.
As you work on a vehicle, narrate the entire process. Explain:
- What you are working on
- What problem you are diagnosing or fixing
- What tools, parts, and materials you are using
- What you are doing at each step
- What you see, hear, feel, or notice
- What you are checking and why
- What you think might be causing a problem
- Why you choose a particular tool, part, or approach
- How you know whether something is working correctly
- What you would try if something does not work
- What safety precautions you are taking
- What you are going to do next
For example:
“I am checking the oil level first. I am pulling out the dipstick, wiping it clean, reinserting it, and checking it again. The oil level is between the two marks, but the oil looks fairly dark…”
You do not need to sound scripted or formal. Talk naturally and continuously while you work.
🚗🔧 What Can You Work On?
Depending on your experience, you can record tasks such as:
- Changing oil and filters
- Checking and replacing fluids
- Replacing air and cabin filters
- Changing windshield wipers
- Checking tire pressure and condition
- Rotating or changing tires
- Inspecting and replacing brakes
- Replacing batteries
- Changing spark plugs
- Replacing belts, hoses, or other components
- Diagnosing mechanical problems
- Troubleshooting warning lights or symptoms
- Inspecting engine components
- Working on suspension or steering components
- Performing routine vehicle maintenance
- Removing and installing automotive parts
- Using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, and shop equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining automotive components
- Restoring or modifying vehicles
- Organizing tools, parts, and your workspace
- Other automotive repair and maintenance tasks
The goal is not simply to show us the repair. We want you to explain your entire process, including your decisions, observations, and troubleshooting.
