Job Description
A hospitality company in Pacific Palisades is hiring an Accounting Assistant on a contract basis with potential to go contract-to-hire. The Accounting Assistant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and helping ensure the accounting department runs smoothly. This position works closely with the finance team to maintain accurate records, process transactions, and assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment to vendors
Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation
Assist with resolving billing discrepancies and vendor inquiries
Support month-end and year-end close activities
Prepare and file check runs
Perform monthly vendor reconciliations
Post daily charge batches
Print daily credit card batches from ETS
Input food and beverage inventory and verify pricing and item units at month-end
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Provide administrative support to the finance team on special projects and ad hoc tasks
Handle sensitive financial information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller within the reasonable scope of the role
Qualifications
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
This is an onsite role in Pacific Palisades Monday - Friday. Typical hours are 6:30 - 3:30PM with some flexibility. Pay is $21-23/hr, based on experience.
• At least two years of experience in an accounting or finance support position.• Proficiency with accounting software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Practical experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, invoice coding, and transaction processing.
• Solid understanding of core accounting practices and the ability to apply them accurately in daily work.
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and adaptability when managing confidential information and shifting priorities.
