Job Description
We are looking for a dependable Dispatcher to support safety operations in midtown Memphis, Tennessee. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can stay calm under pressure, manage multiple communication channels, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will help coordinate emergency and routine responses, oversee parking-related administrative tasks, and provide organized support for daily department activities. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a service-focused approach when working with staff and visitors.
Hours are swing shift, see below:
1. Monday & Tuesday's- Off Day
2. Wednesday & Thursday's- 7am-3pm
3. Friday's-12pm-8pm
4. Saturday & Sunday's-3pm-11pm
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate emergency, non-emergency, and routine communications through 911 systems and radio channels, ensuring timely and accurate response support.
• Manage parking administration by issuing decals, updating permit information, and processing parking-related appeals and records.
• Prepare and maintain operational documentation, including dispatch logs, reports, notes, and data entry, while protecting sensitive information.
• Monitor office activity, alarms, calls, and other indicators of unusual conditions to help maintain campus awareness and safety readiness.
• Support the upkeep and availability of departmental equipment and supplies needed for daily operations.
• Work closely with student workers and assist with day-to-day coordination to help maintain efficient office coverage and service.
• Participate in assigned training, workshops, and required annual security-related education to support ongoing development.
• Report to work reliably as an essential team member, including during campus disruptions, severe weather, or other emergency conditions when required.
• Prior experience in dispatching, call handling, or customer service in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally by phone, radio, and in person during routine and high-pressure situations.
• Working knowledge of computer-aided dispatch systems, data entry, and general recordkeeping practices.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
• Comfortable coordinating logistics and responding appropriately to changing priorities throughout the workday.
• Ability to work dependably with students, staff, and the public while delivering courteous service.
• Willingness to complete required training and fulfill the expectations of an essential personnel role.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to support continuous departmental operations.
