Special Education Teacher | Lorain, Ohio

This opportunity is located near Lorain, OH, and focuses on two moderate to severe (mod/sev) self-contained classrooms—one serving grades K-3 and the other serving grades 3-5. You'll work closely with a collaborative team, playing a critical role in creating an encouraging and successful learning environment for your students.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification is required
• Experience working with students who have significant cognitive disabilities preferred
• Understanding of differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Patience, creativity, and flexibility in adapting teaching methods
• Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive classroom climate
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's needs
• Conduct and document comprehensive assessments to monitor progress
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and other educators
• Develop and update IEPs in partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Create a safe, structured classroom environment that maximizes student learning
• Provide skill-building activities centered on functional academics, social-emotional growth, and life skills
• Advocate for students’ needs and celebrate every achievement, big or small
