The Estimator Project Manager oversees fire sprinkler projects from initial estimate through successful completion. This role combines technical fire protection expertise with project management, ensuring accurate bids, compliant system layouts, coordinated installation activities, and strong communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams. The position supports licensing requirements through professional credentials while focusing primarily on estimating, project management, technical support, and project coordination for fire sprinkler systems.
Responsibilities- Estimate fire sprinkler projects based on plans, specifications, and detailed project requirements.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to determine project scope, materials, labor, and installation needs.
- Coordinate fire sprinkler projects from initial estimating through completion, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Collaborate effectively with general contractors, customers, engineers, inspectors, and other subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel to ensure accurate installation and troubleshooting.
- Review sprinkler system layouts and project plans for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Assist with project scheduling, material procurement, and coordination of field activities to maintain workflow and deadlines.
- Monitor projects for quality, safety, schedule adherence, and budget performance, and proactively resolve project issues and field conditions.
- Assist with inspections, testing, repairs, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, reports, and correspondence.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, approved plans, specifications, and company standards.
- Assist with developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide technical expertise and support to leadership and the fire sprinkler team on design, installation, and code requirements.
- Support the organizations Illinois Fire Sprinkler Contractor licensing requirements through appropriate professional credentials and industry experience, while focusing on estimating and project management responsibilities.
- Current Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license OR current NICET Level III or Level IV certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
- Demonstrated experience in the fire sprinkler industry.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, installation practices, and applicable fire protection requirements.
- Proficient estimation skills for fire sprinkler projects, including materials, labor, and installation costs.
- Solid project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and monitoring of project progress.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with contractors, customers, engineers, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation, schedules, and project records.
- Ability to provide technical support and guidance to field personnel and project stakeholders.
- Experience estimating commercial fire sprinkler projects.
- Experience with fire sprinkler system layout or design, including blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Experience managing fire sprinkler installation projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Experience supervising field personnel in a construction or fire protection environment.
- Knowledge of applicable standards and fire protection requirements relevant to fire sprinkler systems.
- Experience working with general contractors, engineers, architects, and inspectors on construction projects.
- Experience with project estimating or construction management software, including bidding and quoting tools.
- NICET Level III or IV Water-Based Systems Layout certification (if not qualifying via PE license).
This role operates in a mixed office and field environment, with time spent reviewing drawings, preparing estimates, and coordinating projects in an office setting, as well as visiting job sites to support installation, inspections, testing, and troubleshooting activities. The Estimator Project Manager regularly collaborates with general contractors, engineers, architects, inspectors, and field personnel, and uses construction drawings, specifications, and project management or estimating software to plan and oversee work. Work hours generally follow standard business schedules aligned with construction project timelines, with flexibility required to address project needs and site conditions. Professional attire is expected in office and meeting settings, while appropriate safety gear and site-appropriate clothing are required during visits to active construction sites.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72.00 - $80.00/hr.
