About this job
Job Description
You roll into our Newport News, VA facility, grab the work orders for the day, and start with a quick safety check and setup of your bay. With diagnostic tools in hand, you dive into diesel powertrains—pinpointing faults in fuel delivery, chasing down electrical gremlins, and correcting exhaust issues that impact performance. Between jobs, you document what you found and what you fixed, keeping repair notes, maintenance logs, and parts usage tidy and accurate.
You’ll move from routine service on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to deeper teardown-and-repair work, collaborating with teammates to keep projects on schedule. Throughout the day, you maintain a clean, orderly workspace and stick to safety protocols. And because you’re serious about the craft, you keep an eye on emerging diesel technologies and industry trends, bringing fresh insights back to the team.
What you’ll handle- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and subsystems (fuel, electrical, and exhaust).
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on diesel vehicles and equipment.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues and implement effective fixes.
- Maintain precise records for repairs, maintenance activities, and parts inventory.

- Follow safety procedures and keep a clean, organized work area.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or in a closely related role.
- Solid knowledge of diesel engine systems and components.
- Comfort using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Sharp troubleshooting ability and strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
