Structural Welder – 2nd Shift

Schedule

  • Shift: 2nd Shift
  • Certification/Training: Certification will be completed on 1st Shift
  • Shift Premium: $0.70/hour for 2nd Shift
  • ITAR Requirement: Candidates must meet U.S. Person requirements
  • Candidates must have the skills and experience necessary to certify as a 400-level Structural Welder

Compensation

  • Starting Rate: $26.13/hour
  • Certified Rate: $31.76/hour
  • Maximum Rate: Up to $32.91/hour
  • 2nd Shift Premium: Additional $0.70/hour

Job Summary

The Structural Welder is responsible for setting up, fitting, tacking, and welding ferrous and nonferrous materials in accordance with applicable welding procedures, specifications, and codes. This position requires a strong focus on weld quality, structural integrity, and aesthetic appearance.

The role involves working collaboratively with other team members to assemble and weld large components while ensuring all completed work meets applicable quality and inspection requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, fit, tack, and weld ferrous and nonferrous materials.
  • Read, understand, and follow applicable Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Perform welding in compliance with applicable welding codes and quality standards.
  • Produce welds that meet structural, dimensional, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Interpret and apply applicable weld inspection criteria.
  • Cut, grind, fit, and bend components as required for weldment assembly.
  • Clean, finish, and deburr welds to meet customer requirements and applicable welding codes.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to assemble and weld large components.
  • Perform testing and inspection of welds to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Complete weld rework in accordance with applicable welding codes.
  • Perform weld repairs using approved procedures.
  • Salvage and rebuild components as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical welding training equivalent to a high school education plus specialized welding instruction.
  • GMAW certification or 3–5 years of equivalent welding experience.
  • Ability to qualify/certify for 400-level structural welding requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Working knowledge of shop mathematics and dimensional measurement.
  • Experience using welding and fabrication tools, including protractors, scales, squares, calipers, and related equipment.
  • Ability to pass required welding tests and certifications associated with applicable standards, which may include:
  • AWS
  • ISO
  • MIL-STD
  • International welding standards
  • ASNT requirements
  • Must meet applicable ITAR/U.S. Person requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience welding large or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Experience with structural fabrication and large weldments.
  • Experience welding with stainless steel filler metal and associated equipment.
