The clock reads 4:00 pm. You don your PPE, scan the queue of retains, and line up your glassware. By 4:15, you’re running titrations on in‑process batches, checking pH, and logging data that guides production on the floor. Your Shift and ScopeWe’re hiring a Quality Technician 1 on 2nd Shift (Monday–Thursday, 4:00 pm–2:30 am) with additional overtime as business needs require. You’ll execute analytical and physical testing on raw materials, in‑process samples, and finished goods while owning documentation, retains, and routine investigations. You’ll interpret data, communicate results to production, and help keep lab systems, calibrations, and retain programs current and accurate.
What You’ll Handle Nightly- Run approved analytical methods—titrations and other wet chemistry—delivering accurate, on‑time results aligned with procedures and project plans.
- Assess raw materials and finished products to confirm they meet chemical and physical specifications, drawings, and standards.
- Capture observations and outcomes in lab notebooks, spreadsheets, and quality systems; escalate out‑of‑spec findings to production and quality leadership.
- Administer the Quality Retain / First Sample Retention Program: label, store, track, and disposition retains and test samples correctly.
- Keep the lab audit‑ready—organized, clean, and stocked with required reagents and supplies.
- Conduct routine checks and basic calibrations on balances, pH meters, titration equipment, etc., with complete calibration records.
- Contribute to internal investigations and basic root‑cause analysis for nonconformances; document data and support corrective actions.
- Audit in‑process inspections on the line for method compliance and documentation; assist in addressing defects and escalate quality events appropriately.
- Champion safety and housekeeping programs across the lab and plant.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or college‑level chemistry strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of quality, laboratory, or QA experience in manufacturing or chemical processing.
- Read and interpret specifications, technical drawings, SOPs, and related documentation.
- Comfort with Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry, trend charts, and basic reporting.
- Exceptional recordkeeping, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tests in a fast‑moving environment.
- Able to work around fumes/chemicals with PPE, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
