Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical components and systems for company products. This role requires a deep understanding of the complete product to ensure components and assemblies are buildable and meet customer needs. You will work closely with various departments, such as Production, Materials, Field Services, and R&D, to apply practical insights into design decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
  • Maintain a working understanding of how components fit into the complete product and design with that context in mind.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, models, product definition drawings, and BOM content that support accurate production and assembly.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals, such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and basic heat transfer, to component and assembly design.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, design reviews, and testing to validate design concepts and confirm they meet customer needs.
  • Actively interface with Production, Materials, Field Services, and R&D to understand build, supply, and field conditions and apply insights to design decisions.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations of mechanical issues identified in production or the field for assigned designs, escalating to the Senior Mechanical Engineer when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate revision history and documentation for assigned drawings and BOMs.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing test results, design updates, and performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD design software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication methods, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with BOM structures and exposure to an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of relevant mechanical and building codes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 25 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a manufacturing or product-development environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in conducting feasibility studies and design reviews.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for root-cause investigations.
  • Capability to maintain accurate documentation and revision histories.
Work Environment

This position involves working closely with various departments, including time spent on the production floor and, when necessary, at job sites. The role requires a hands-on approach to understand build, supply, and field conditions. The work environment supports collaboration and practical application of engineering principles.

This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
