Shift: 12am-8am
**Initial training takes place during day shifts alongside experienced trainers and senior lab staff**
Laboratory Technician (Class C)
Position Overview
Our team is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician (Class C) to join our quality assurance lab. In this role, you will prepare metal samples, conduct metallurgical hardness testing, and maintain precise digital and paper logs.

Key Responsibilities
*Sample Preparation: Safely cut samples using power cut-off saws; mount, polish, and tag non-conforming parts for review.
*Metallurgical Testing: Perform hardness and microhardness testing using Rockwell (Standard & Superficial), Brinell, microhardness, and file testing equipment.
*Microscopic Inspection: Evaluate total/effective case depth, compound zones, and decarburization using standard microscopes, camera attachments, and Brinell scopes.
*Documentation & Data Entry: Read work orders, log testing data into our computer system (TQM), and draft test certifications using MS Office (Word/Excel).
*Quality Assurance: Generate non-conforming reports for parts outside customer specifications and alert the Plant Metallurgist.
*Lab Maintenance: Keep testing equipment, supplies, and work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained.

What We Are Looking For
Communication & Curiosity: Ability to ask questions when unsure, communicate clearly with supervisors and team members, and read/understand specifications in English.
Technical & Computer Skills: Comfortable using desktop computers (MS Word, Excel, Windows) and basic software tools.
References: Ability to provide at least three professional job references.

Physical Requirements
*Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
*Sufficient mobility to access testing equipment and sample locations.
*Strong eyesight and depth perception for precise visual inspection under microscopes.
*Reliability- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and commitment to working safely.

Working Conditions
Work is conducted in a climate-controlled laboratory environment. Occasional exposure to industrial plant conditions (heat, cold, humidity, dust, smoke, acid solutions, and high noise levels) occurs when gathering samples or moving through production areas. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety/lift truck training are provided.
