California Underground is looking for two dependable, personable team members who enjoy making guests feel welcome and building lasting relationships.
We’re hiring for two positions:

- Experienced Bartender/Server: At least 2 years of bartending experience, including experience in a high-volume restaurant, strong service skills, and confidence managing a busy bar.
· Entry-Level Server/Bartender: No experience required, though prior restaurant experience is helpful. Bring a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a positive attitude—we’ll train the right person.

Located right across from Nantasket Beach, California Underground is a family-owned restaurant open year-round in a popular destination for beachgoers, tourists, and locals. We’re known for our award-winning tacos and burritos, wide selection of tequilas, delicious margaritas, and relaxed Californian vibes. We recently added breakfast to our lineup, giving guests even more reasons to visit.
We have a loyal customer following and seek teammates who keep regulars coming back and build connections with new guests through friendly, attentive service.

Responsibilities
- Welcome guests, take orders, and serve food and beverages with friendly, attentive service.
- Prepare cocktails efficiently and consistently, following company recipes and specifications.
- Prepare house-made cocktail mixes using fresh ingredients and established recipes.
- Learn our food and drink menus and help guests make selections.
- Check identification and follow responsible alcohol-service procedures.
- Complete prep work, replenish supplies, and keep the bar and service areas clean and organized.
- Process orders and payments accurately using our POS system.
- Follow opening and closing procedures and applicable food-safety and beverage-service requirements.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and work as a team to keep service running smoothly.
- Complete additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and a guest-focused approach.
- Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively while maintaining accuracy and a positive attitude.
- Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of serving and bartending.
- TIPS certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- For the experienced position: at least 2 years of bartending experience, high-volume restaurant experience, and working knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and cocktail preparation. Tequila knowledge is a plus.

Compensation
Both roles are tipped positions, paid at the applicable minimum tipped wage plus tips.
