Location: Ely, NV (Field-Based / 100% Travel Required in Remote Southern Idaho & Eastern Nevada)

Our Environmental Department specializes in environmental permitting and compliance management as it relates to the electrical utility construction industry, bringing expertise in permitting, onsite inspection, erosion control, mitigation planning, and environmental training.
Role Overview
Based out of Ely, Nevada, the Environmental Coordinator will work on a variety of office and field tasks, including managing environmental compliance on long-term remote construction projects starting mid-2026 through 2028. You will be responsible for overseeing field monitoring, mitigation, and environmental controls while collaborating closely with project management staff, field superintendents, clients, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Training & Onboarding: Conduct environmental training for construction crews and manage subcontractor resources.
- Field Monitoring & Inspection: Conduct field monitoring and inspection for environmental compliance—including hydrocarbon spills, erosion and sediment control, and sensitive resource mitigation.
- Plan Implementation & Maintenance: Follow plans to meet mitigation requirements, suggest amendments as necessary, and update and maintain construction Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) documents.
- Control Installation: Install and/or maintain erosion and sediment controls as needed.
- Communication & Scheduling: Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of Project Management staff, field superintendents, clients, and vendors across a demanding 6-day-per-week construction schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience Level: Work experience in a related or relevant field (such as stormwater, geology, hydrology, or biology), with environmental permitting experience considered helpful.
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Natural Resources, Biology, or another related field.
- Technical & Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Location & Licensing Requirements: Must have a valid state driver's license, the ability to work outside, travel extensively, and perform strenuous fieldwork involving walking long distances across remote project sites in southern Idaho and eastern Nevada.
