Addison Group is hiring a Safety Coordinator on behalf of our client, a well-established nonprofit organization committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and supportive workplace. This position will help promote safety awareness, support regulatory compliance, and coordinate safety initiatives across the organization.
Job Description:
The Safety Coordinator will assist with the development and administration of workplace safety programs and procedures. This individual will work closely with employees and leadership to identify potential hazards, support training initiatives, maintain safety documentation, and help ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and ongoing administration of workplace health and safety programs.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and injuries and document findings appropriately.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, inspection documentation, and compliance files.
- Coordinate employee safety training, orientations, and awareness initiatives.
- Help monitor compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations and organizational policies.
- Partner with managers and employees to address safety concerns and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Assist with tracking corrective actions and following up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Support emergency preparedness procedures, drills, and workplace response plans.
- Communicate safety policies and procedures clearly to employees at various levels of the organization.
- Assist with workers' compensation documentation and related safety reporting as needed.
- Stay informed of changes to safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, environmental health and safety, safety coordination, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety practices.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, documenting incidents, and maintaining compliance records.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with employees and leadership across different levels of an organization.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Experience in a nonprofit, community-focused, healthcare, education, or similarly regulated environment is a plus.
