What you'll do- Perform dimensional inspections on inbound inventory, raw materials, and in-process goods.
- Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) and compare results to blueprints and specifications.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to verify critical characteristics.
- Record inspection and certification data; create clear reports that inform corrective and preventive actions.
- Apply Lean concepts and structured problem solving (5 Why, 8D) within APQP/PPAP contexts.
- Support implementation of Colson Group quality procedures across DC operations.
- Partner with operations to resolve quality issues and coach teammates; assist with onboarding and training new hires on quality policies.
- Follow all company policies and safety rules; contribute to other projects as assigned.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, APQP, PPAP, and 8D methodologies.
- Ability to interpret drawings; strong math skills; comfort handling multiple part numbers at once.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Detail orientation, strong organization, and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Self-directed, professional demeanor, and eagerness to expand quality skill sets through training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and navigate warehouse/manufacturing/DC environments.
As you deepen your metrology and root-cause skills, you'll help reduce the cost of quality and strengthen our customer experience. This role offers hands-on exposure to structured quality systems and the opportunity to mentor others.
Background- 1–3 years of experience in quality operations.
- Experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution center settings.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); quality certification strongly desired.
