Radiologic Technologist Overview

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic procedures as requested by physicians and radiologists. This role requires a strong understanding of advanced anatomy and a commitment to providing excellent patient care, particularly for patients experiencing pain. The technologist will follow established guidelines and protocols to ensure safety and accuracy in imaging practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with established protocols and within standard time frames.
  • Prepare and orient patients for upcoming procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
  • Provide patient care while in the Radiology Department, adhering to AIDET guidelines.
  • Ensure radiation protection for patients, coworkers, and oneself during procedures.
  • Operate imaging and departmental equipment in compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain and document accurate records in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.
  • Keep work areas clean, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues.
  • Stay updated on advances in radiologic technology and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program required.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiographic imaging equipment, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience, which may include clinical education experience.
  • Current ARRT and New Mexico State licenses are mandatory.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time position consisting of 3 days, each 12 hours in duration. Weekend work may be required, and flexibility to float to multiple locations may be necessary.
