Job Description
Step onto a jobsite where your craftsmanship makes facilities more efficient, quieter, and safer. As a Mechanical Systems Insulation Mechanic, you will install thermal and acoustic insulation on mechanical systems, industrial equipment, pipes, ducts, and related structures to reduce heat loss or gain, improve energy performance, and cut noise.
A day in the lifeYou review drawings and specs, plan your cuts, and select the right materials. You measure, cut, and fit insulation for process piping and HVAC ductwork, then fasten and seal it so it meets project requirements. You apply protective jacketing or cladding for durability and safety, coordinate with project managers and other trades to keep the schedule on track, and follow strict safety practices while working at height, in tight spaces, and in changing weather. Projects span commercial and industrial sites, with the occasional residential task.
What you’ll do- Install insulation materials on mechanical and industrial systems, equipment, piping, and ducting.
- Measure, cut, fit, and secure insulation accurately to meet specifications.
- Apply protective jacketing/coverings to ensure long-term protection and safety.
- Work across commercial, industrial, and occasional residential environments.
- Adhere to safety protocols and use required PPE at all times.
- Collaborate with project managers and other crafts to meet deadlines.
- Experience with mechanical/industrial insulation preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools used in insulation work.
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Comfort working independently and within a team setting.
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
