Compensation Range: $125,000 - $175,000 

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Billing Operations to transform the billing and accounts receivable function within a high-volume, service-based organization.

This person will assess current operations, streamline processes, introduce automation, establish clear accountability and KPIs, and build a more efficient and scalable department.

This is a role for someone who has improved or rebuilt billing/AR operations before, not simply managed an established team.

What You'll Own

• Lead billing and accounts receivable operations and manage a team of three.

• Evaluate current workflows and identify process gaps, bottlenecks, manual work, and recurring issues.

• Redesign and automate processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

• Establish SOPs, controls, KPIs, ownership, and accountability.

• Oversee invoicing, reconciliation, collections, disputes, and AR follow-up.

• Partner with Operations and Finance to resolve billing issues and eliminate root causes.

• Represent the department across the organization, advocate for the team, and ensure issues are addressed.

• Develop the team and drive consistent execution and follow-through.

What We're Looking For

• Strong billing and accounts receivable leadership experience within a service-based company.

• Proven experience transforming, streamlining, or rebuilding billing/AR processes or departments.

• Highly detail-oriented and process-driven.

• Strong technology and systems aptitude, including billing, ERP, reporting, workflow, or automation tools.

• Experience implementing automation and reducing manual processes.

• Strong management skills with the ability to establish accountability and improve team performance.

• Confident communicator who can challenge issues constructively and drive cross-functional resolution.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause thinking.

Experience in construction, facilities services, property management, field services, or another complex service environment is strongly preferred.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, the department has clear processes, measurable KPIs, stronger accountability, less manual work, better use of technology, and fewer recurring billing issues.

The operation is more efficient, visible, and scalable, and Billing has a strong voice across the organization.
