Job Title: Project Controls AssistantJob Description

The Project Controls Assistant will work onsite at a mission critical data center construction project as part of the cost control team. This role provides accounting and administrative support to the project controls function, helping to ensure accurate customer and supplier accounts, timely processing of project-related financial transactions, and clear cost reporting for the construction project.

Responsibilities
  • Support the project controls and cost control team on a mission critical data center construction project.
  • Provide accounting and administrative support to the project controls manager to ensure customer and supplier accounts remain accurate and up to date.
  • Receive, process, and file project-related paperwork, including invoices, subcontractor payouts, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities related to construction projects.
  • Prepare, review, and process complex bills, subcontractor payouts, and credit card vouchers in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Track and reconcile petty cash transactions and ensure proper documentation and filing.
  • Perform data entry and maintain financial records using Excel and other project control tools.
  • Support month-end activities, including cost analysis, reporting, and preparation of financial information for project leadership.
  • Assist with the preparation of cost reports, financial statements, and other project financial summaries as requested.
  • Collaborate with the cost manager and broader project team to track project costs and support cost analysis efforts.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems for financial and project documentation.
  • Communicate promptly with internal stakeholders and suppliers regarding invoice status, payouts, and any discrepancies.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in accounting within a construction environment or closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Proficiency in invoicing and processing complex billing for construction or project-based work.
  • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including data entry and basic spreadsheet functions.
  • Experience with subcontractor payouts, credit card voucher processing, and transaction tracking.
  • Foundational knowledge of project controls and cost analysis in a project setting.
  • Ability to support month-end activities, reporting, and preparation of financial information.
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and financial statement components.
  • Strong organizational skills for receiving, processing, and filing financial and project paperwork.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience working on construction project cost control or project controls teams.
  • Familiarity with cost management or project controls software (training will be provided on the specific tool used on this project).
  • Experience working with general contractors or large-scale construction projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with project team members and suppliers.
  • Comfort working with highly innovative and complex projects in a structured project management environment.
Work Environment

This position is fully onsite at a construction site in St. George, South Carolina, at a mission critical data center project. The role is embedded within a project management and cost control team for a major general contractor on a high-profile, innovative project. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent interaction with construction and project management professionals. Work is performed in both office-style spaces at the jobsite and in close proximity to active construction activities, so candidates should be comfortable in a field-based construction setting. Standard office tools and technologies, including Excel and project cost management software, are used daily to manage and track financial data and project costs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
