Caregiver I / Personal Care Assistant

Location: San Jose, CA | On-site
Pay: $21.00–$23.33 per hour

TEEMA is hiring a compassionate, dependable Caregiver I to provide hands-on support to elderly and frail individuals in home and center-based care settings. Help patients maintain their dignity, comfort, safety, and independence while working with a supportive care team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Provide meal preparation, feeding assistance, light housekeeping, and laundry.
• Provide escort assistance according to individual care plans.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition.
• Document care activities accurately using simple electronic or paper forms.
• Follow safe lifting practices, proper body mechanics, and infection-control precautions.
• Encourage conversation, social interaction, and participation in activities.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.

Qualifications:

• Minimum one year of experience caring for elderly or frail individuals.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• Basic conversational and written English skills.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Flexibility to work in home and center-based environments.
• Ability to meet physical care demands, including occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds with appropriate equipment or assistance.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in a licensed adult day program.
• Bilingual skills may be required based on patient needs.

Additional Experience Welcomed:

• CNA or HHA certification.
• Experience in both home care and center-based care.
• Experience mentoring or training peers.
