The TMS Technician will work directly with patients receiving Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment and will be responsible for administering treatments in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.

This is a patient-facing clinical support role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to create a calm and supportive treatment experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with psychiatric providers and other members of the clinical team while maintaining accurate documentation and following all treatment and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatments in accordance with physician orders, clinical protocols, and established practice procedures.
  • Prepare patients for each treatment session and ensure proper positioning and comfort.
  • Operate TMS equipment safely, accurately, and consistently.
  • Follow prescribed treatment parameters and protocols for each individual patient.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment sessions for comfort, tolerance, and any changes in symptoms or condition.
  • Promptly communicate patient concerns, side effects, or significant clinical changes to the appropriate provider.
  • Document treatment sessions, patient responses, and other relevant clinical information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients on the TMS treatment process and help answer routine questions related to their course of treatment.
  • Support patients throughout the treatment process by providing reassurance, encouragement, and a professional therapeutic presence.
  • Assist with initial treatment preparation and mapping procedures as directed by the treating provider and within the scope of the position.
  • Maintain treatment rooms, TMS equipment, and clinical supplies in a clean, organized, and treatment-ready condition.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, HIPAA, and patient-confidentiality requirements.
  • Maintain consistency with treatment schedules and help ensure patients complete their prescribed course of care.
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and other clinical staff to support continuity of care.
  • Participate in training and ongoing education related to TMS equipment, treatment protocols, and behavioral health care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a TMS Technician is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in psychiatry, behavioral health, mental health, or another patient-facing healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience operating TMS equipment is preferred, although training may be available for the right candidate with a strong clinical background.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients receiving ongoing treatment.
  • Professional, compassionate, and comfortable working with individuals experiencing depression and other mental health conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow treatment protocols precisely.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately communicate changes in a patient's condition.
  • Comfortable learning and operating specialized medical equipment.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent treatment schedule.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with psychiatric and clinical providers.
  • Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
