Position Overview
EGS is seeking an experienced Utilities Manager to support a chemical manufacturing operation in Martin, SC. The Utilities Manager will be responsible for the safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of plant utility systems.
This individual will provide leadership to utility operations personnel while partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, EHS, and contractors to ensure continuous utility availability, improve reliability, increase energy efficiency, and maintain regulatory compliance. Utilities Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of site utility systems.
- Lead, train, coach, and develop utility operators and technical personnel.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and employee performance.
- Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to manufacturing operations.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Develop contingency and emergency-response plans for utility failures.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for uptime, energy consumption, reliability, and operating costs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DHEC, environmental permits, and company EHS requirements.
- Partner with Maintenance and Reliability teams on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions involving utility equipment.
- Support energy conservation, sustainability, process optimization, and utility modernization initiatives. Utilities Manager
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of manufacturing, chemical plant, or industrial utility experience.
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing utilities within a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Experience with boiler operations, steam systems, compressed air, cooling water, electrical distribution, and industrial HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and environmental compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to respond to plant emergencies outside normal business hours as needed.
