The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations by accurately preparing prescription medications for final verification by a Pharmacist. This role focuses on medication picking, labeling, scanning, packaging, and preparation in a fast-paced, production-focused pharmacy environment. The position offers a consistent full-time schedule, contract-to-hire potential, and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of licensed Pharmacists.
Responsibilities- Accurately fill daily medication orders under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
- Pick and pull medications from shelving and designated medication storage areas.
- Apply labels to blister cards and other packaging, and scan medications to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare completed prescriptions for final verification by a Pharmacist.
- Identify medications or products that do not scan correctly and promptly notify the Pharmacist on duty.
- Assist with processing returned medications according to established procedures.
- Prepack, label, and store frequently ordered medications as needed to support workflow.
- Package medications and pharmacy products in accordance with pharmacy standards and procedures.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workstation throughout the shift.
- Replenish pharmacy supplies and inventory needed at the workstation to support continuous operations.
- Follow all applicable pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA requirements and confidentiality standards.
- Adhere to departmental safety guidelines, attendance expectations, and dress-code policies.
- Work efficiently to meet production and fulfillment goals in a high-volume pharmacy setting.
- Perform additional pharmacy-related duties as assigned by the Pharmacist or leadership team.
- Active and clear Ohio Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to accurately pick medications, apply labels, scan products, and prepare prescriptions for final Pharmacist verification.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a production-focused pharmacy environment.
- Ability to fill daily medication orders while maintaining workflow, accuracy, and productivity.
- Strong attention to detail when picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to follow established pharmacy procedures and Pharmacist direction.
- Comfort working at a moderate pace while maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Ability to maintain an organized workstation and replenish necessary supplies as needed.
- Ability to identify scanning or medication issues and escalate them appropriately to the Pharmacist.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, including approximately 710 hours per day as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and rotating weekends when required.
- Previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience in retail pharmacy, long-term care, or other pharmaceutical or healthcare settings is a plus.
- Familiarity with pharmacy production or fulfillment environments.
- Experience with order entry, inventory management, and pharmacy support functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Experience in administrative support, call center, or customer service roles within healthcare or insurance is beneficial.
- Knowledge of drug products, prior authorization processes, and insurance-related workflows is a plus.
- Understanding of good manufacturing practices (GMP) or similar quality standards is advantageous.
- Strong data entry skills and comfort working with electronic systems and scanners.
- Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service when needed.
- Motivation to develop within a fast-paced, production-focused pharmacy environment.
- Interest in building experience with prescription preparation, medication picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging.
This role is a 100% onsite pharmacy position based in Columbus, OH. The Pharmacy Technician works in a fast-paced, production-focused environment where daily responsibilities include picking, labeling, scanning, packaging, and preparing medications. The position follows a regular MondayFriday schedule from 4:00 PM to close, totaling 40 hours per week, with rotating weekends, overtime, and holiday coverage as required by business needs. The work involves a mix of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and bending throughout the day and may require sitting or standing for approximately 710 hours per shift. The role requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and to maintain good visual acuity for reading fine print, medication labels, and product information. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to departmental dress-code policies, with no travel required. The position offers a contract-to-hire structure, consistent hours, and the opportunity to work directly under the supervision of licensed Pharmacists while gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations and medication fulfillment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
