Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description

The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations by accurately preparing medications for final verification by a Pharmacist. This role focuses on medication picking, labeling, scanning, packaging, and preparing prescription orders in a fast-paced, production-focused pharmacy environment. The position offers a contract-to-hire path, consistent full-time hours, and the opportunity to build hands-on experience in pharmacy production and fulfillment under the supervision of licensed Pharmacists.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately fill daily medication orders under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Pick and pull medications from shelving and designated medication storage areas.
  • Apply labels to blister cards and other packaging, and scan medications to verify accuracy.
  • Prepare completed prescriptions for final verification by a Pharmacist.
  • Identify medications or products that do not scan correctly and promptly notify the Pharmacist on duty.
  • Assist with processing returned medications in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepack, label, and store frequently ordered medications as needed to support workflow.
  • Package medications and pharmacy products for distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout the shift.
  • Replenish pharmacy supplies and inventory needed at the workstation to support continuous operations.
  • Follow all applicable pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA requirements for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Comply with departmental safety, attendance, and dress-code policies.
  • Follow established pharmacy procedures and directions provided by Pharmacists.
  • Identify scanning or medication issues and escalate them appropriately to a Pharmacist.
  • Perform additional pharmacy-related duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations.
Essential Skills
  • Active and clear Ohio Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately pick medications, apply labels, scan products, and prepare prescriptions for final pharmacist verification.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production-focused pharmacy environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Capability to accurately fill daily medication orders while supporting workflow and productivity.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work at a moderate pace while sustaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English clearly for labels, instructions, and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail when picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications.
  • Ability to follow established pharmacy procedures and accept direction from Pharmacists.
  • Comfort working in a structured, production-focused pharmacy setting.
  • Ability to maintain an organized workstation and consistently replenish necessary supplies.
  • Ability to identify scanning or medication discrepancies and escalate them to a Pharmacist.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and rotating weekends when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy, long-term care, or other pharmacy settings is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy production, fulfillment, or medication order processing.
  • Exposure to the pharmaceutical or broader health care industry.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Experience with order entry, inventory management, and data entry in a pharmacy or healthcare environment.
  • Background in administrative support, call center, or customer service roles is helpful.
  • Knowledge of drug products and pharmacy support functions such as filling prescriptions.
  • Understanding of prior authorization and insurance processes is a plus.
  • Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or similar quality standards is advantageous.
  • Strong customer service orientation when interacting with internal teams and external partners.
  • Interest in developing skills in prescription preparation, medication picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging.

Work Environment

This role is a 100% onsite pharmacy position based in Columbus, OH. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with daily responsibilities centered on picking, labeling, scanning, packaging, and preparing medications. Team members may sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend throughout the workday and may be required to sit or stand for approximately 710 hours per day. The position occasionally requires lifting up to 25 pounds and demands good visual acuity for reading fine print, medication labels, and product information. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a 40-hour workweek. Rotating weekends, overtime, and holiday coverage may be required based on business needs. The role follows established departmental safety and dress-code policies and does not require travel. The work culture emphasizes accuracy, reliability, collaboration with Pharmacists, and adherence to all pharmacy regulations and privacy standards, while offering a contract-to-hire pathway and opportunities for long-term professional growth in pharmacy operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
