The Cardiovascular Cath Lab Technologist assists with sterile diagnostic and interventional procedures for patients ranging from young adults to older adults. The technologist supports cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures while maintaining patient safety, sterile technique, and accurate procedural documentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including PTCA, PCI, Rotablator, CSI, and Penumbra procedures.
- Support balloon pump and Impella insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR), and instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR) procedures.
- Assist with vascular interventions, including peripheral angiography, angioplasty, stenting, IVC filter placement, AAA repair, TCAR, carotid and renal angiography, graftograms, fistulograms, and EKOS procedures.
- Assist with vascular access, arterial and venous sheath management, and hemostasis techniques.
- Support temporary pacemaker insertion, permanent pacemaker and ICD placement, and loop recorder insertion and removal.
- Assist with structural heart procedures, including TAVR, Watchman, PFO closure, and MitraClip.
- Support electrophysiology procedures, including radiofrequency, cryoablation, and pulsed-field ablation.
- Assist with synchronized cardioversion, defibrillation, and the care of critically ill patients.
- Apply, maintain, and remove vascular closure devices, including Mynx, Vascade, Perclose, Angio-Seal, and TR Band.
- Assist with Spectranetics laser procedures, ACT testing, thermodilution, invasive monitoring, and hemodynamic calculations.
- Maintain sterile technique and assist with radiological positioning, equipment setup, and cardiac monitor lead placement.
- Prepare, operate, and maintain contrast delivery systems, including ACIST devices and manual manifolds.
- Monitor and document contrast volume and report relevant information to the physician.
- Troubleshoot X-ray and other Cath Lab equipment as needed.
- Assist with PCI registry data collection, patient transport, and postmortem care.
- Monitor patient hemodynamic stability using invasive and non-invasive measurements.
- Document procedural details, clinical responses, and hemodynamic data accurately in Epic and Philips XPER.
- Participate in call coverage and respond within the required 30-minute hospital arrival time.
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Current ARRT certification.
- Current Kentucky state certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Required EKG training and annual EKG competency review.
- Minimum 1 year of travel experience.
- Willingness to work 48 hours per week and participate in required call coverage.
- Ability to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes when called in.
- ACLS: Required; completion at the next available class within six months.
- PALS: Required within 24 months of hire or transfer.
- Nuclear Medicine certification: Preferred.
- ODC: Preferred; please confirm the meaning of this abbreviation with the facility before submission.
- Workweek: Sunday through Saturday.
- Payroll: Biweekly.
- Overtime: 1.5× the straight-time bill rate for travel nurses working over 48 hours.
- Holiday Rate: 1.5× the straight-time bill rate.
- Call-Back Rate: 1.5× the applicable straight-time bill rate.
- Payment Terms: RightSourcing pays the supplier seven business days after receiving payment from Pikeville Medical Center.
