Job Description
(Houston, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an Assembly Technician to produce components by assembling parts and subassemblies in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will follow assembly instructions, maintain quality standards, operate and maintain equipment, and adhere to established safety and environmental procedures.
Essential Duties
- Assemble parts and subassemblies to produce completed components.
- Follow all shop safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Review assembly instructions, drawings, and parts lists to prepare for assigned work.
- Gather the necessary parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Position parts and subassemblies using templates and measurements.
- Measure completed components to verify specifications and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot assembly problems and adjust dimensions as needed to meet specifications.
- Notify the supervisor when additional resources or assistance are required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Properly dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements/Skills
- Ability to follow shop procedures, quality standards, and safety practices.
- Strong verbal communication skills appropriate to assigned responsibilities.
- Five or more years of assembly experience preferred.
- Experience or skills in a skilled trade, particularly millwright work and screw pipe, preferred.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in assembly operations.
- Must have the tools necessary to complete assigned job tasks.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and GA (General Arrangement) drawings.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read measurements, interpret technical drawings, and follow assembly instructions.
- Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a shop environment for the entire workday.
- Ability to stand approximately 80% of the workday.
- Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of the arms and legs.
- Ability to walk, climb, bend, and stoop as required to complete assembly tasks.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to work around typical fabrication shop hazards, including welding fumes, welding arc flash, skin irritation, high noise levels, and debris from welding and grinding.
- Ability to follow applicable safety procedures and use appropriate protective measures when exposed to workplace hazards.
