Hours: 40–50 hours/week
Position Type: Contract, 6+ months with potential extension/conversion

POSITION SUMMARY

Seeking a Project Engineer III to lead and manage capital projects, facility improvements, equipment installations, and engineering initiatives within a manufacturing plant. This position will oversee projects from design and planning through installation, commissioning, and startup while ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who can manage multiple projects and work closely with Production, Maintenance, contractors, and other engineering teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead capital projects involving facility modifications, process improvements, equipment installations, and new systems.
  • Develop project scopes, designs, cost estimates, schedules, and capital expenditure justifications.
  • Coordinate engineering, contractors, maintenance, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance and lead troubleshooting of complex equipment and operational issues.
  • Evaluate equipment and processes and recommend improvements to increase safety, efficiency, reliability, and productivity.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining scope, budget, schedule, and downtime requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering, equipment, safety, and project execution standards.
  • Support continuous improvement and new product/system development.
  • Promote and enforce plant safety policies and best practices.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Use root cause analysis and structured troubleshooting methods to resolve problems.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to operations, maintenance, contractors, and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects from planning through implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and plant operations.
  • Experience working with contractors and/or maintenance teams.
  • Strong project management, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, general industry, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with computer software and Google Workspace.

Preferred:

  • CAD/design drafting experience, preferably Autodesk.
  • Experience with capital projects, commissioning, process safety, or process hazard analysis.
  • Experience in continuous-production manufacturing, OEM, or engineering design environments.

Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing plant and wearing required PPE, including hard hat, safety shoes, and eye/ear protection.
