Job Description
We are looking for an accomplished litigation attorney to join a boutique practice in Baltimore, Maryland. This role is suited for an experienced legal specialist who can lead complex matters with confidence, advise clients directly, and contribute to a collaborative firm environment. The practice serves business clients across commercial disputes, construction-related matters, and workplace law issues, offering a strong platform for an attorney who values both autonomy and high-level client service.
Responsibilities:
• Lead litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, including drafting pleadings, overseeing discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing motions, and supporting trial strategy.
• Advocate for commercial clients in disputes involving business operations, contracts, and other civil litigation matters in state and other applicable forums.
• Represent companies, contractors, and development-related clients in construction conflicts, working toward practical resolutions through negotiation, mediation, or trial preparation.
• Counsel employers on day-to-day labor and employment issues, including compliance questions, employee relations concerns, workplace risk, and disciplinary matters.
• Prepare and revise employment-related documents such as handbook provisions, workplace policies, agreements, and other human resources materials.
• Advise clients on key employment decisions involving hiring, performance management, termination, wage and hour concerns, leave issues, and related obligations.
• Maintain primary responsibility for an active caseload with limited oversight while ensuring deadlines, strategy, and client communications are handled effectively.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering responsive legal guidance and partnering with firm leadership on case planning and growth opportunities.• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the Maryland Bar.
• At least 10 years of litigation experience in a law firm or comparable legal practice.
• Proven ability to manage commercial litigation matters independently from filing through settlement or trial.
• Background in construction disputes and employment counseling is strongly preferred.
• Strong legal writing, analysis, advocacy, and client-management capabilities.
• Experience drafting motions, briefs, and discovery materials in civil litigation matters.
• Trial experience is beneficial.
