Sit Down Forklift Operator

Position Summary

The Sit-Down Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, loading, unloading, and staging materials throughout the warehouse using a sit-down forklift and manual pallet jacks. This role supports daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and warehouse operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and productivity. Experience operating a sit-down forklift with slip-sheet attachments is preferred, but not required.

Key Responsibilities Material Handling & Equipment Operation

• Safely operate a sit-down forklift and pallet jack to transport products throughout the warehouse.
• Load and unload trailers while verifying product quantities and inspecting shipments for damage.
• Move, stage, stack, and organize pallets in designated warehouse locations.
• Transport materials between receiving, storage, production, and shipping areas.
• Perform product put-away, replenishment, and order staging activities.
• Utilize pallet jacks to move materials safely and efficiently within the facility.
• Experience with slip-sheet operations is a plus; training may be provided for qualified candidates.

Inventory & Documentation

• Use RF scanners and warehouse systems to track inventory movements and maintain product accuracy.
• Verify product counts and locations during receiving, shipping, and inventory activities.
• Complete shipping and receiving documentation accurately and timely.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed.
• Report inventory discrepancies, damaged products, and shipment issues to supervisors.

Safety & Quality

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse operating procedures.
• Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Ensure products are handled properly to prevent damage and maintain quality standards.
• Follow all established loading, unloading, and material handling procedures.

General Warehouse Responsibilities

• Assist with warehouse operations and special projects as assigned. Employees are expected to be off the forklift up to 70% of the time. 
• Support team members in shipping, receiving, and inventory functions.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment while meeting productivity goals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications Required

• Previous experience operating a sit-down forklift.
• Experience using manual or electric pallet jacks.
• Ability to safely load, unload, and transport materials throughout a warehouse.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

• Experience operating a sit-down forklift with slip-sheet attachments.
• Previous warehouse, distribution, shipping, or logistics experience.
• Experience with RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain company-provided certification.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift.
• Operate warehouse equipment for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds when required.
• Work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with changing priorities.
