Job Description
Ready to level up high-throughput automation?

If hands-on troubleshooting, optimizing uptime, and tuning PLC logic sound like your kind of challenge, you’ll feel at home here. We’re looking for a specialist who thrives at the intersection of safety, speed, and precision.

Why this role
  • Direct line-of-sight to operational impact across conveyors, sortation, robotics, and SCADA.
  • Autonomy to design, implement, and refine control strategies.
  • Collaboration with operations, maintenance, and leadership to drive continuous improvement.
What you will tackle
  • Own safety: follow codes, regulations, and internal standards to protect people and equipment.
  • Program and adapt material handling controls across PLC/PC platforms—especially Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix using RSLogix 5000.
  • Be the first escalation for MHE controls software issues—on-site and remote, during and after hours; act fast in emergencies and call in help as needed.
  • Audit systems to confirm operation within design capabilities and client-required conditions.
  • Direct contractor activities—scope, requests, scheduling, and inspections—for proprietary work, licensed installations, upgrades, and specialized maintenance.
  • Design reliability improvements and process solutions from concept through network deployment.
  • Monitor/diagnose industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS‑I), servo/VFD drives, motor control systems, and electrical distribution.
  • Analyze MHE performance metrics; partner with the site to resolve electrical issues causing throughput losses.
  • Report clearly on technical issues, timelines, and production risks to leadership, operations, and maintenance.
  • Lead failure reviews and process analyses; recommend fixes and targeted retraining to prevent repeats.
  • Conduct control system assessments to maintain and elevate reliability.
  • Build positive relationships with the client and Operations Maintenance team; handle other duties as assigned.
Schedule

Day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST, plus weekend on-call support.

Must-haves
  • Bachelor’s preferred with 2–5 years relevant experience; equivalent education/experience considered.
  • Experience across at least two design cycles (specification, component selection, programming).
  • 2+ years with PLC programming, robotics controls/components, and SCADA monitoring/control.
  • Willingness to support flexible shifts/areas including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently, interpreting general guidance with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry 50+ lbs.
  • Skilled at conveying complex/sensitive information and setting expectations.
Nice-to-haves
  • 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent in control systems troubleshooting/programming.
  • Experience with varied conveyor and sortation systems.
  • Robotic maintenance exposure.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Top-tier organization and curiosity to dig into root causes.
  • Advanced math for percentages, fractions, and related calculations.
Tech stack

Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, RSLogix 5000, SCADA platforms, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS‑I), scanners, vision, and print‑and‑apply equipment.

Eligibility

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
