General Laborer / Trade Apprentice – Residential Construction (Direct Hire)

About the Position

DROYO Workforce Group is recruiting a General Laborer / Trade Apprentice for a full-time, direct hire opportunity with a reputable contractor that has been in business for 30 years, specializing in high-end custom residential construction and luxury remodels.

You will be hired directly by the contractor and join an established team that values hard work, reliability, respect, and quality craftsmanship.

This hands-on role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced craftspeople and develop skills that can support advancement into carpentry, other specialized trades, or site supervision. Responsibilities

• Assist with site preparation, including digging trenches for utilities and footings, hand-grading, backfilling, and clearing work areas.
• Unload, move, stack, and stage construction materials, including lumber, concrete bags, drywall, and fixtures.
• Support carpenters, superintendents, and subcontractors by holding materials, retrieving tools, and preparing work areas.
• Learn construction techniques and trade skills through hands-on work alongside experienced team members.
• Set up dust barriers and protective coverings to safeguard finished surfaces in high-end residential properties.
• Keep job sites clean, safe, and organized through daily cleanup, sweeping, and tool organization.
• Occasionally operate a 16-foot dump truck to haul construction debris, transport materials or equipment, and support job site cleanups.
• Follow job site safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and handle tools and equipment safely.
• Communicate respectfully with supervisors, crew members, and subcontractors.

Required Qualifications

• Experience safely driving and maneuvering large commercial vehicles, such as dump trucks, flatbeds, or box trucks.
• Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record; driving record verification is required to operate company haul vehicles.
• Reliable personal transportation to job sites between Los Gatos and Belmont.
• Ability to perform demanding physical work, including repeatedly lifting, carrying, and pushing 75+ pounds, operating hand and power tools, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to completing work.
• Clear, respectful communication and a professional, team-oriented attitude.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and develop construction trade skills.

Preferred Experience

• At least 1 year of experience in general construction, landscaping, or heavy labor.

Motivated candidates beginning their construction careers will also be considered, provided they meet the required qualifications.
