About Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Quality Specialist to help ensure our products consistently meet UBI quality standards and customer specifications.
This position is responsible for performing product testing and inspections, documenting results, identifying quality concerns, and working with internal teams and suppliers to address issues. The Quality Specialist will also maintain testing equipment, quality records, and samples while supporting continuous improvement and product development efforts.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with data and equipment, has a strong attention to detail, can identify problems, and is comfortable communicating quality concerns and following them through to resolution.
What You'll Do
Quality Control & Product Testing
- Perform required product testing and inspections to ensure products meet UBI quality standards and customer specifications.
- Test UBI and competitor products for quality, performance, and safety requirements.
- Conduct various product tests, which may include tensile strength, Top Lift, Type-B, Type-C, surface properties, and other testing as required.
- Review product specifications, testing requirements, and customer standards.
- Identify and document product defects, failures, or inconsistencies.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager and other team members to track samples and determine testing requirements.
- Work with supervisors and appropriate departments when products fail testing or do not meet specifications.
- Support investigations into quality issues and help identify potential root causes.
- Maintain accurate quality control records and testing documentation.
Documentation & Data Management
- Record test results, including lot/PO numbers, pass/fail results, photos, dates, and other required information.
- Maintain organized quality records, test reports, sample information, and quality control documentation.
- Maintain data for statistical analysis and identify trends or recurring quality issues.
- Maintain the company's library of quality controls, testing standards, and related documentation.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other computer systems to document and analyze quality information.
Equipment & Laboratory Operations
- Operate product testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Prepare products and materials for testing, including loading and handling materials as required.
- Maintain testing equipment in clean, safe, and working condition.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure testing accuracy and reliability.
- Perform routine equipment checks and identify maintenance or calibration needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized testing area.
- Follow all applicable safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures.
Quality & Customer Support
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer specifications and quality requirements are understood and met.
- Support sales and customer service teams with product testing and quality-related information.
- Assist with testing competitor products when requested.
- Respond promptly to quality-related requests and follow through on commitments.
- Communicate quality concerns clearly and professionally to the appropriate departments.
- Help identify opportunities to improve product quality, testing processes, and overall consistency.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze testing results and quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with investigating recurring quality issues and developing corrective actions.
- Provide feedback regarding product performance, testing results, and potential supplier or manufacturing issues.
- Support Research & Development activities by evaluating product performance and helping establish appropriate quality standards.
General Responsibilities

What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college or additional technical education preferred.
- 1–2 years of professional work experience required; experience in quality control, quality assurance, manufacturing, laboratory testing, production, or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with measurements, testing equipment, and data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to communicate quality concerns clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide direct and constructive feedback when quality standards are not being met.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and internal departments.
- Self-motivated and willing to learn new products, processes, testing methods, and equipment.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed indoors in a shared work environment with moderate noise levels.
- Position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and handling materials.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May occasionally work in warehouse or production areas and around forklifts and other equipment.
- Must follow all applicable safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment.
