Job Description
Help a leading Houston-area client elevate its Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance. In this role, you’ll be the hands-on expert advancing safety systems, training teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting day-to-day operations across the facility.
A day in the lifeStart your morning with floor walks, verifying safeguards and identifying potential hazards. Move on to incident follow-ups, updating Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and coordinating toolbox talks. Midday might include onboarding a new hire on safe work practices, inspecting eyewash stations and first aid kits, or preparing audit materials. Afternoons often bring collaboration with supervisors to close corrective actions and maintain HSE documentation. When an injury or property damage event occurs, you’ll coordinate the response, accompany employees for medical care as needed, and document root causes to prevent recurrence. You’re also part of the on-call rotation for injuries, spills, and near-miss events.
Schedule & pay- Shift: Day shift
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM
- Lunch: 30 minutes (12:00 PM–12:30 PM)
- Some Saturdays (half-day) as needed
- Overtime available; flexibility required for extended hours
- Compensation: $35.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience
- Keep HSE records and filing systems accurate and audit-ready per company policy and regulations.
- Conduct daily facility inspections to spot health, safety, and environmental risks—and drive timely corrections.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; determine root causes; recommend and follow through on corrective actions.
- Maintain SDS and ensure hazardous materials are labeled, stored, and disposed of properly.
- Develop and update policies, procedures, programs, and associated HSE documentation.
- Support and participate in internal and external HSE audits.
- Equip department leaders with resources and tools to champion safety and compliance.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, third parties, and visitors.
- Lead safety orientations and onboarding for new hires.
- Inspect and maintain safety assets: fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits, and AEDs.
- Manage safety communications across bulletin boards, digital displays, and other channels.
- Assist with quarterly safety meetings and daily toolbox talks.
- Accompany employees to medical facilities after work-related injuries or property damage events.
- Track and follow up on injury cases and medical visits.
- Remain on-call for injuries, property damage, environmental spills, and near-miss events.
- Coach teams on safe work practices and reinforce HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Operate standard office equipment and manufacturing machinery as needed.
- Use inspection, measuring, testing, and monitoring equipment according to procedures and work instructions.
- Leverage Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint for records, reports, training, and safety communications.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Safety certifications preferred, including: CSST (Certified Safety and Health Specialist), COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist), OSHA 10-Hour, OSHA 30-Hour, OSHA 500/510, or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years in a safety-related role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to partner with employees, contractors, and management across a diverse workforce.
- Operate independently as the sole or primary HSE resource when needed.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, health and safety laws, environmental compliance, and industry best practices.
- Experience with hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste requirements, and safe work practices.
- Incident investigation capability, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Experienced in safety inspections, audits, orientations, and training delivery.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required).
- Able to perform all essential job functions within 90 days of hire.

- Formal training on company work instructions, procedures, and relevant industry standards per the training matrix.
- First Aid/CPR certification training if not already certified.
- On-call responsibilities.
