- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM
Our client is seeking an experienced Slitting Supervisor to lead daily production operations in a fast-paced steel processing environment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing production employees, ensuring safe and efficient operations, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience within steel processing, slitting, coil handling, blanking, or a related manufacturing environment. This individual must be comfortable working on the production floor, leading teams, resolving operational challenges, and coordinating priorities to meet customer and production demands.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and support production employees during daily manufacturing operations.
- Monitor productivity, workflow, quality, and safety performance.
- Train, coach, and develop team members to maximize performance and engagement.
- Manage attendance, staffing, and shift coverage.
- Coordinate coil movement and production priorities to maintain workflow.
- Complete production reports, documentation, and departmental records.
- Investigate and resolve production and operational issues.
- Partner with maintenance, operations, and quality teams to ensure efficient production.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience with steel processing, slitting, coil processing, blanking, or similar operations preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience operating or overseeing the use of forklifts (Hi-Lo) and overhead cranes.
- Familiarity with measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and employee development.
- Proven leader who can motivate and develop production teams.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing knowledge.
- Ability to balance production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Hands-on supervisor who enjoys being actively involved on the production floor.
