Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Collections Specialist to manage a high-volume portfolio of complex B2B accounts. This position requires hands-on experience resolving collection issues involving contracts, AIA/progress billing, change orders, purchase orders, deductions, short pays, and billing disputes.

The ideal candidate can quickly identify why an account is not paying, determine what is needed to resolve the issue, and confidently drive the account toward payment.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and prioritize a high-volume portfolio of past-due B2B accounts.
  • Drive consistent collection activity and secure payment commitments.
  • Research and resolve complex billing, contract, and payment disputes.
  • Review contracts, AIA/progress billings, change orders, POs, deductions, and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with AR, Sales, Project Management, and Accounting to remove payment barriers.
  • Reconcile accounts and research short pays, unapplied cash, and discrepancies.
  • Escalate high-risk or high-dollar accounts with recommended next steps.
  • Maintain accurate collection notes and account documentation.
  • Support preliminary notices, liens, joint checks, and bond claims as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of B2B collections experience managing high-volume, complex accounts.
  • Construction, contract-based, or project-based collections experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with AIA/progress billing, contracts, change orders, POs, deductions, and billing disputes.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and complex customer billing requirements.
  • Strong account reconciliation, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Persistent, professional communicator with excellent follow-through.
  • Experience with Sage, Nexus, Laserfiche, Excel, and customer billing portals preferred.
  • Knowledge of lien rights, preliminary notices, joint checks, and bond claims preferred.
