The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding injection molds, including working with mold components, hot runner systems, and precision tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on plastic injection molds.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble injection molds.
  • Diagnose mold-related issues affecting production efficiency and part quality.
  • Repair or replace damaged mold components, including ejector pins, cavities, cores, inserts, slides, lifters, and bushings.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot hot runner systems, heaters, and thermocouples.
  • Identify and repair leaks or restrictions in mold cooling systems, water lines, fittings, and seals.

  • Support mold modifications, tooling improvements, and new mold trials.
  • Complete preventive maintenance records and document repairs.
  • Work closely with Process Technicians, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to resolve tooling-related problems.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Previous hands-on experience with injection mold maintenance, repair, toolmaking, or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to production-related tooling issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and workmanship.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of injection mold repair or tooling maintenance experience.
  • Experience disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding plastic injection molds.
  • Knowledge of multi-cavity injection molds.
  • Experience repairing hot runner systems.
  • Experience with mold polishing, spotting, fitting, or welding.
  • Basic machining and toolroom equipment experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical mold components.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with direct, hands-on injection mold repair experience, not just general machine maintenance or production operation. Candidates who have worked as Mold Repair Technicians, Injection Mold Tooling Technicians, Mold Maintenance Technicians, or Toolmakers are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Hands-on work with injection molds, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and working around production equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working with oils, greases, and cleaning materials while following safety procedures.
