Special Education Teacher in Crown Point, IN

Qualifications:

• Valid Indiana Special Education Teaching Certification
• Endorsement in mild intervention or intense intervention
• Previous experience working with high school students, particularly in applied skills or life skills settings, is highly desirable
• Strong communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families
• Commitment to individualized learning strategies and inclusive teaching practices

Responsibilities:

• Serve a caseload of 14 high school students in an applied skills classroom
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs and abilities
• Adapt curriculum and classroom activities to support academic and functional skills development
• Work closely with instructional aides and related service personnel to provide comprehensive support
• Communicate progress and goals with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Utilize positive behavior interventions to facilitate student engagement and success
• Document student progress and stay current on best practices in special education

This contract offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and provides a highly competitive pay range of $40–$45 per hour, paid weekly.
