Located near Lawrence, MA, this contract opportunity is ideal for LPNs or RNs looking to utilize their clinical expertise outside the traditional setting. The position focuses on morning transportation—lasting approximately 7.5 hours per week—by monitoring and providing nursing care for several students with significant health requirements.

Requirements:

  • Active LPN or RN license in Massachusetts
  • At least one year of nursing experience, preferably with medically complex pediatric populations
  • Confident in g-tube care, seizure management (including Valtoco administration), O2 and SAT monitoring, suctioning, and familiar with allergies and EpiPen
  • Reliable for early morning runs (arriving at 6:15 AM for pick-up, concluding by approximately 7:45 AM)
  • Committed to student safety and compassionate care while in transit
  • Willing to participate in orientation and shadowing with established bus nurses for route and student familiarization

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent medical monitoring and care for five students with a wide range of needs including chronic encephalopathy, epilepsy, asthma, cerebral palsy, diabetes, and other complex conditions
  • Monitor and manage medical equipment such as g-tubes, O2 supplies, and oral suction devices
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies and administer PRN medications, including Valtoco and EpiPen, as outlined in each student’s care plan
  • Collaborate with school nurses to ensure clear understanding of transportation care plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation of health interventions and observations during transport
