Fish Counter Associates and Fishmongers-Full and Part Time - Now Hiring

Love food, people, and learning a real craft? Fjord is a sustainability-focused fish market and sushi shop, and our counter team is the heart of every store. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. No experience required.

What you’ll do

• Welcome customers and help them find the right fish for dinner
• Cut, portion, weigh, and wrap seafood to order
• Keep the case looking great: fresh ice, clear signs, correct pricing
• Check in deliveries and make sure everything is fresh and accurate
• Follow food safety and cleaning routines (gloves, temp logs, sanitizing)
• Work with our kitchen, sushi, and catering teams on special orders
• Help out at other stations when the team needs it
• Ring up orders and take phone orders

What you’ll learn
We train you on the job and certify you as you build skills, including:

• Filleting whole fish like branzino, black sea bass, and red snapper
• Shucking oysters and clams
• Cleaning shrimp and portioning salmon to exact weights
• Knife care and sharpening
• Telling the difference between salmon types, shrimp varieties, and where all our seafood comes from
• Recommending cooking methods, sauces, and pairings to customers

What we’re looking for

• Friendly, upbeat, and happy to talk with customers
• Comfortable handling raw seafood and working in cold spaces
• Able to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs
• Good at following checklists and food safety rules
• Weekend and holiday availability is a plus
• Food handling or retail experience is nice but not required

Where this can go
We promote from within. Counter Associates can grow into Shift Supervisor, General Manager, and District Manager roles across our six stores in Connecticut and New York.
