Role Snapshot

• Location: Remote with optional use of our Oviedo, FL office
• Travel: 12–15 days/month for site visits, project walks, vendor meetings, and bid coordination
• Type: Contract-to-hire or direct hire (6+ months)
• Pay: $45–$55/hour on W2

What You’ll Do

• Complete disciplined quantity takeoffs for fire/life safety, civil, structural, and general scopes.
• Prepare ROM and detailed estimates for proposals, budgets, and GMPs.
• Solicit, compare, and level subcontractor/vendor bids across covered trades.
• Maintain material and labor unit pricing databases.
• Coordinate with the Preconstruction Scheduler on long-lead life safety equipment and structural materials.
• Partner with the Proposal & Contracts Coordinator to finalize scope clarifications and exhibits.
• Contribute to BOD evaluations for fire/safety and civil/structural systems.
• Enter and update estimates in the Preconstruction portal.
• Support equipment procurement activities.

Domains You’ll Cover

• Fire / Life Safety: Fire protection and suppression; life safety systems.
• Civil / Structural: Sitework, earthwork, utilities; concrete, structural steel, framing.
• General Construction: General conditions and self-perform scopes.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of commercial estimating experience (discipline-relevant experience preferred).
• Ability to interpret construction drawings/specifications accurately.
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
• Strong grasp of bid solicitation and leveling.
• Bachelor’s in CM, Engineering, or related preferred; equivalent experience welcomed.
• Excellent communication—written and verbal.
• Broad trade knowledge; willingness to assist other Preconstruction functions.

How We Work

• Remote-friendly with an optional hub in Oviedo, FL.
• Estimators travel more than most precon roles—plan on roughly 15 days/month.
• Expect shifting priorities as the department’s structure, tools, and processes evolve—adaptability is essential.
